Celebrate Independent Video Store Day, COUPON extended to 10/17/11

Come celebrate the art of movies, win free rentals,
and support you local video store!

Today Saturday, October 15th, neighborhood video stores across the US and Canada are coming together for the first International Independent Video Store Day, a celebration of local and independent brick and mortar stores. It’s a great time to reflect on what being independent and local mean to us ~ Le Video, one of the largest independent video stores in the country with over 90,000 titles available for rent.

Le Video was born in 1980 out of love for, and a desire to share a world of early cinema, foreign and independent movies - at the time, a spectrum not widely available in the USA

"Being an independently owned store gives us the freedom to passionately pursue that mission. A corporate office doesn’t select our inventory to maximize profits and appeal to only the widest audience. The titles on our shelves reflect the eclectic tastes and voracious cinematic appetite of our staff and, most importantly, our customers.

Our inventory is one reason we’re one of the largest and most reputable video stores in the country, but we wouldn’t be anywhere without our clientele.

Another part of being local is our staff and the connection we have to our customers. Rental-by-mail, vending machines and streaming video are more convenient, but they can’t help you figure out if Poltergeist is too scary for your 10-year old, walk you through how to watch DVDs from other countries, or help you figure out which of the new releases will best match your viewing mood for the night. We’ve seen more and more people willing to settle for a limited range of options, diminished picture and sound quality, and longer waits to see films for the sake of convenience. The effects of those choices are increasingly eroding our ability to maintain the quality our inventory, support our staff, and contribute to the greater community. We can’t argue with easy access all the time, but if it becomes the sole factor in discovering movies then local, independent sources for film will disappear.

In the end, we do our best to provide products and services we believe are worthy of your patronage. If you value our resources, our knowledgeable staff, and our commitment to the community, we ask for your support. If you haven’t visited Le Video in a while, Independent Video Store Day is a great reason to come in and rediscover what we have to offer."*

Some of our customers quotes - as found on Yelp:

"I really hope we can keep a few treasures like this store around. Having helpful people with recommendations is nice along with quickly picking up the box to scan the title is just more social than cruising Netflix." Nick B.

"Le Video is awesomey awesome.  It's a cute space in a great location - although parking can be really sucky sometimes.  They have so many movie/tv show titles that it's sometimes hard to decide what to watch.  The people who work there are really knowledgeable and give lots of great suggestions on what to watch. They have almost every single movie you could think of watching - from mainstream blockbusters to really obscure independent or foreign films." Kris I.

"This is the best video store ever. I don't do Netflix because I have Le Video." Aaron N.

"Le Video is a cinephile's wet dream come true!!! They have everything from the rare & hard to find to the over abundant hollywood crap/new releases. This is not your average local video store, it is a video museum where you can actually touch (and take home!) the exhibits. If there is some foreign film or documentary or even a rumored famous director's film school final project that you've only heard existed in a mythological realm of lost tape, chances are Le Video has it. Amazingly knowledgeable & friendly staff are always there to help or recommend options. Le Video is an SF treasure - go check it out!" Joseph K.
